How to have meaningful summertime adventures

Summer is here! And with the longer days and warmer nights, it’s the perfect time to get out and experience all the adventures that make life amazing. From glamping under the stars to sober morning raves, the country comes alive this season – with plenty of places to play, stay, and savour summer. So grab your mates, pack the boot, and dive in to these meaningful summertime adventures:

Glamping getaway

Fancing camping with a few luxury touches? Say goodbye to muddy tents and blow-up mattresses, and hello to glamping! From treehouses to tipis decked out with hot tubs and fridges, there’s a glittering away of glamping sites sprinkled across the UK. With all the creature comforts to make your summertime adventure unforgettable.

Sawday’s Canopy & Stars has curated a collection of quirky places to stay and explore the countryside. Like a luxury safari tent set on a lake with Indian décor, and a cosy yurt for two in a Sussex wildlife haven. There’s even a twig den atop a tree, and secret treehouses nestled in forests.

During the day, you could head out on a foraging adventure, or go hiking, biking, or canoeing. And with some glamping sites serving up spectacular sea views, you and your crew can explore beautiful beaches and coastlines – before retreating to an luxury evening in the heart of the wilderness.

Conscious clubbing

Are you wild for wellness? Then grab your glow sticks and fish out the fluoros, because an electric line-up of sober raves are rolling out across the UK all summer long. These feel-good festivals are all part of the shift towards clean living and ‘conscious clubbing’. Alongside big-name DJs and eclectic artists, many sober parties offer wellness workshops, guided group meditation, pop-up spas, and more.

Where can you get your groove on? Check out Morning Gloryville, a four-hour festival featuring visual entertainment and upbeat tracks, yoga, organic coffee and smoothie bars, free massages, and even personal motivation sessions with costumed trainers.

London festival Citadel – whose mantra is “a Sunday well spent brings a week of content” – has world-class musicians, as well as group workouts and wellness classes, vegan and free-from foods, and art and culture talks.

You might also fancy Green Man in the Brecon Beacons, a peaceful ethically-minded escape that happens to be Wales’ biggest music event. Try the mindfulness sketching, natural therapy treatments, yoga brunch, or one of the many walks, talks, and interactive experiences.

Or check out Glastonbury’s ‘healing field’, where you’ll find laughter workshops, gong baths, and partner yoga – a world away from the main stage.

Foraging fun

Prefer to go deep into the wild? Then a foraging adventure might be more your speed. On a day or weekend away, you can learn how to hunt for edible treats – and cook up a foraging feast. There are trips to the forest and the sea floor, while some adventures are paired with fishing or kayaking.

Explorers Connect hosts a two-day ‘freediving and forage’ course on the South Coast, lead by an underwater foraging expert. And Fore Adventure takes you deep into Dorset, with an ethnobotanist teaching you how to identify, harvest, and prepare wild plants and sea weeds to nosh.

You’ll then be able to set off on your own foraging adventures all year-round – seeking out naturally grown food on your doorstep and beyond.

Your meaningful adventure awaits…

Whether you go glamping, hit up a sober festival, or set off foraging, you’ll find plenty of playful ways to spend the summer – and reconnect with what matters most. And that’s making memories and sharing meaningful moments with the ones you love…well after the sun goes down.

See you out there!
